Det är äntligen dags för UNR att ordna sommarläger för första gången. Lägret ordnas 17-20.7. Projektet påbörjades redan förra året, men blev tyvärr inte verklighet den sommaren. UNR:s vision är att samla ungdomar från de nordiska länderna för att knyta kontakter och tillsammans utveckla framtidens nordiska samarbete. Under lägret kommer deltagarna få ta del av workshops som tangerar teman som säkerhetspolitik, mental hälsa och aktivism. Utgående från den kunskap som erhålls och de diskussioner som förs under workshopparna formulerar deltagarna resolutioner som senare kan användas i Nordiska Rådet samt lämnas in till andra relevanta institutioner.

Utöver det kommer deltagarna få njuta av den nordiska sommaren på en vacker ö med en mörk historia. Sommaraktiviteter som simning, volleyboll och lekar kommer blandas med en givande vandring runt ön där man får lära sig allt om hur Utøya jobbat för att hedra de som miste livet på ön, och återuppbygga en plats där ungdomar kan samlas för att lära sig om och engagera sig i politik.

På sommarlägret får 40 personer från Ungdomens Nordiska Råds medlemsorganisationer samt observatörer plats. Vi hoppas på en geografisk, politisk och åldersmässig mångfald för att främja kunskapsutbyte, debatt och utveckling. Dessutom hoppas vi bjuda in 10 ukrainska ungdomsledare som bor i Norden eller på andra ställen. En av workshopparna kommer handla om nordiskt och ukrainskt samarbete, ungdomars möjligheter att påverka, samt hur man hanterar trauma.

Socialdemokraterna i Nordiska rådet föreslog att vi skulle organisera ett evenemang med ukrainska ungdomar och vi kombinerade detta med vår idé om ett nordiskt sommarläger för ungdomar i Norden. Detta är ett bra exempel på hur nordiskt samarbete kan skapa ett konkret värde för unga nordiska aktivister.”

It is finally time for UNR to organise a summer camp for the first time. The camp will be held from 17-20 July. The project was already started last year, but unfortunately did not materialise that summer. UNR’s vision is to bring together young people from the Nordic countries to make contacts and develop future Nordic co-operation together. During the camp, the participants will take part in workshops on themes such as security policy, mental health and activism. Based on the knowledge gained and the discussions held during the workshops, the participants will formulate resolutions that can later be used in the Nordic Council and submitted to other relevant institutions.

In addition, participants will enjoy the Nordic summer on a beautiful island with a dark history. Summer activities such as swimming, volleyball and games will be mixed with a rewarding hike around the island to learn all about how Utøya worked to honour those who lost their lives on the island, and rebuild a place where young people can come together to learn about and engage in politics.

The summer camp will host 40 people from the Nordic Youth Council’s member organisations and observers. We hope to achieve geographical, political and age diversity to promote knowledge exchange, debate and development. In addition, we hope to invite 10 Ukrainian youth leaders living in the Nordic region or elsewhere. One of the workshops will focus on Nordic-Ukrainian co-operation, youth empowerment, and dealing with trauma.
