Hur ska vi motverka hat på internet? Ca 30 unga nordiska röster fick tycka till under seminariet “Nordic Young Strategies against Hate on the Internet” 1.11.2017 i Helsingfors, Finland. Seminariet var möjligt att genomföra tack vare finsiellt stöd från Nordiska Minsterrådets stödprogam Nordiska barn- och ungdomskommittén (NORDBUK).

 

Målet för seminariet var att dela erfarenheter av hatprat på internet och tillsammans genom arbete i mindre arbetsgrupper komma fram till möjliga lösningar och strategier för att förebygga hatpart. En sammanställning av projektet kan läsas i rapporten:

Women tend to face much more hate on the Internet and e.g. the group on gender-based hate thought we should debate that more in society.

People turn to hate when they aren’t familiar with other cultures and religions, instead people should discuss in person said our participants.

Platforms on the Internet should carry more responsibility for eliminating hate speech on the Internet, said our participants at the seminar.

Using hateful language against someone else on the Internet might be a sign of a weak self-image, said our participants and said young people should discuss with others for support.
